Poor Little Tree

There once was a sapling
That stood by itself
Longing for shelter
Looking for help

It called to the heavens,
It looked to the sky
The sapling was helpless
It wanted to cry

An angel was passing
And stopped for a while
To comfort the sapling
To spread it a smile

"There, there, little sapling,
there's nothing to fear.
There's someone to listen,
now that I'm here"

"I think you're just lonely,
for saplings will bend.
I'll be your company,
I'll be your friend."

The sapling was joyful!
"Oh, my, Lucky me!
An angel, my friend
And I'm just a tree!"

The angel was silent.
She sat in the shade,
And she found comfort
In what the tree made.

"Little sapling, I need you
just like you need me."
"I love you, my angel."
"I love you, little tree"
